About Surfer Eddie Aikau
Eddward Ryan Makua Hanai Aikau was born in Kahului, Hawaii on May 4, 1946 and died on March 17, 1978. Eddie was a well known Hawaiian surfer and job as a lifeguard. The words in Eddie Akau’s full name put together is, Makua Hanai, which means feeding parent.
Eddie Aikau was the first lifeguard at Waimea Bay on the island of Oahu, he saved many lives and this made him famous for surfing Hawaii’s big surf, he won several awards like the 1977 Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship.
