 WestBay is another popular spot suitable for beginners and experienced of surfers. The waves here can hold up to big as 15ft before getting messy and ugly. In the summer this beach is bunged from travelers from Belfast and other destinations to spend a day at the beach. Many people during the winter enjoy going in for a surf only if its surfable, which is often enough in the North Coast at winter.

Some people don’t know that the North Coast is nearly just as good as some other countries surf spots, but it just takes the right swell and a nice offshore wind to get our spots going well! In this photo is David Boyd, my brother surfing a nice right hander, lucky him there wasn’t many out that day.

Unfortunately many people on the North Coast don’t understand respect and etiquette when surfing. Some kayakers enjoy dropping in on us surfing, not just blaming them though. Whenever surfing at WestBay just be careful with the beginners if any are out, to not hit them.
